I built my practice on a simple conviction: patients facing surgery deserve more than technical expertise. They deserve a surgeon who takes the time to know them, not just their scans, and who approaches medicine as an opportunity to serve a greater purpose.

I am a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery of the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts, some of the most technically demanding procedures in the field. I earned my medical degree from Northwestern University, completed my general surgery residency at the University of Arizona, and pursued additional fellowship training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

I have performed robotic surgery using the da Vinci® surgical system since 2015. My focus is on combining advanced technology with thoughtful surgical judgment to operate through the smallest possible incisions, including in highly complex cases. For many patients, this means less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and less time away from the people and work they love.

Outside my practice, I have traveled to the Dominican Republic to provide surgery to patients who otherwise might not have access to care. Born in Spain and raised in a multicultural family, I also value being able to communicate directly with Spanish-speaking patients and their families.

Dr. Amini specializes in advanced general, robotic, and minimally invasive surgery, with particular expertise in complex hernia repair and surgery of the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, gastrointestinal tract, and colon. Many of his patients come to him with complex conditions, difficult diagnoses, or previous operations that require a highly individualized surgical approach.

He is extensively trained in advanced laparoscopic techniques and has performed robotic surgery using the da Vinci® surgical system since 2015. These technologies allow him to perform many procedures through a few small incisions rather than one large incision. For most patients, that means less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster return to normal life.

Dr. Amini believes that advanced technology is most valuable when paired with experience, sound judgment, and a clear understanding of each patient’s individual needs. He continues to pursue new techniques and innovations that can improve surgical outcomes and make the road to recovery easier for his patients.

Dr. Amini completed his undergraduate education at the University of Chicago before earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he was recognized as Surgical Intern of the Year, received the Humanitarian Award, served as Administrative Chief Resident, and was named Outstanding Chief Resident during his final year. He was also inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.

Following residency, Dr. Amini completed fellowship training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, gaining advanced experience in the surgical management of conditions affecting the pancreas, liver, and bile ducts.
